The fabric: 100% cotton, natural indigo and Jaggerry sugar (Indian unrefined sugar) dye. This type of printing is called Ajrak. It is a fabric printed with wooden stamps. It is printed by the Khatris community of Kutch Gujarat. This fabric is distinguished by its blue and red colors and intricate floral and geometric patterns. The making of an ajrak requires a lot of skill and patience. Between the preparation of the fabric, the many washes, dyeing and printing with wooden blocks, until its final cleaning, there are no less than 14 to 16 stages of work to achieve the final result.
The first few uses of the garment may leave a deposit of indigo colored powder on your skin, but it goes away in the shower, no risk.
